Compositions
All this time I've pretended to be someone else now I finally become myself
The performance focuses on blending interdisciplinary, and new technological approaches, and questions the relationship between movement, sound, semantics, and narratives. It also exposes my relation to my instrument, the guitar, as an object which is conditioned through many different conventions, shapes, styles, and genres, and how musicians struggle to develop their identity through, and with the object.
Through exploration of machine learning, text to speech synthesis, and choreography the project blends elements of improvisation, composition, and performance, and explores the translation between these processes which are mediated by artificial intelligence. Last but not least, I have tried to establish a transition between experimental pedagogical approaches, and how they can further function, and be integrated in an artistic context.
This performance is created, and performed by students, faculty, and alumni from the School of Music, Theater, Dance, and Critical Studies at CalArts, and Mitja Cerkvenik aka Jesusonextasy.
